We enter into a new decade 2020 and we are in great expectation. I should start by sharing how 2019 brought many great life lessons. Just to share a few learned this year:
- Having vision is more important than having a good resume. I’ve learned that I don’t have to name drop or quote my resume to gain approval. If God wants to elevate me or shine a spotlight on the work he’s called me to do, it’s Him who is doing it and no man can get the glory for it.
- There is great value in strategic silence and technological detoxes. In a world of smartphones and social media you have to be intentional about giving your brain the needed time for homeostasis. Creativity is something that comes spontaneously and must be captured. Unfortunately most people are so distracted that the best they can come up with is a cheap copy of someone else’s creativity. When a spark of inspiration comes, abandon everything that you can in that moment and lean into the light and creativity. In this next era creativity and innovation will be the new currency.
- Healthy relationships are the primary key to a healthy mind, body, and a prosperous future. If you don’t have a vision for your marriage, children, friendships, church family, and colleagues…and if it’s not at the top of your list of priorities going into the new year, you might as well throw your vision board and list of goals in the trash. Your career and calling —your entire purpose… is directly connected to a problem you are called to solve and a people you are called to serve. What are those problems that you can bring a solution to and who are those people you are called to serve, love, and link arms with?
